SMO (Sorbitan Mono Oleate) is a non-ionic surfactant derived from the esterification of sorbitol with oleic acid. It functions as an emulsifier, dispersant, and lubricant improver in various industrial applications. SMO provides excellent stability to oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions and offers lubricity, corrosion resistance, and surface activity in metalworking and lubricant formulations.

Oleic Acid is a high-purity, monounsaturated fatty acid (C₁₈H₃₄O₂) widely used as a chemical intermediate and lubricant component. It is derived from natural vegetable oils and appears as a clear, pale yellow liquid with excellent lubricity and wetting characteristics.

In lubricant formulations, Oleic Acid acts as a lubricity enhancer, emulsifier, corrosion inhibitor, and metal wetting agent. Its polar nature allows it to form stable films on metal surfaces, reducing friction and wear.
